Psychiatric Institution (Turya Remata)
In this psychiatric institution direct and structural support/aid is being offered to 300 patients living in the institution, such as furniture, beds, closets, medical equipment, kitchenware, musical instruments and technical sound equipment. In 2005 and 2006 several buildings were renovated. The Fred Foundation has established some good contacts with a large number of patients within the institution.
Psychiatric Hospital (Berehovo)
In this psychiatric hospital direct and structural support/aid is being offered to 450 patients living in the hospital. In the summer of 2005 an additional daycare/receptioncentre was opened for approximately 70 patients. Up till this moment, direct aid has been successfully offered which has enhanced the patients healthcare situation, by means of food, clothing, furniture, medical equipment, kitchenware, washing machines etc. Another significant and important establishment is the improved relationship between personnel and patients within the hospital. In November 2006 some of the boardmembers and staff of the Hospital in Berehova visited several psychiatric hospitals in The Netherlands to learn from Dutch psychiatric healthcare. The Fred Foundation opened an activity centre for patients in Berehovo in 2007.
Housing Project (Zakarpatska Region)
In 2002 the Fred Foundation came into contact with a group of 40 young adults (17-30 years of age), who had been living in a stable near Perregrestya for years in a row. Their living and psychological conditions were absolutely horrific. The Fred Foundation bought apartments and houses in Vinogradov, Berehovo, Mukachewo, Hust, Irshava, Perregrestya and Beresnik.
Crisis Centre (Vinogradovo)
In 2005 The Fred Foundation opened a crisiscentre in Vinogradov,in cooperation with the local government, for children addicted to glue- sniffing. Nadya and Theresa work full time in the centre. A physician, psychiatrist and an administrator work on a parttime basis in the centre.The Centre has booked some remarkable results since its opening. Several children have overcome their addiction and are reunited with their parents. The centre also functions as a temporary shelter for adults and children in need.
Individual Aid (Zakarpatska Region)
The Fred Foundation offers help and support to children by means of sending them back to a daycare centre or boarding school en keeping an eye on them. Furthermore The Fred Foundation offers help to orphans in the field of registration and housing and to streetchildren. The Fred Foundation also supports people in deploying and developing initiatives. Aid is being given to an elderly home in Hust and a children’s hospital in Vinogradov (washing machine, kitchenware etc.)
Summer Camps for children (Vinogradovo)
Each year since 2003 The Fred Foundation has been financing the annual holidaycamp in Vinogradovo attended by 150 children from distressed families, all lacking education.
It is therefore a very positive development that most of the children stay in touch with the campleaders after their holiday en take up an educational program.
