Supported Projects
HOMEPLAN (MEXICO)
Foundation Home Plan was founded in 1997 by Jan Tebbe, a Dutch philanthropic entrepreneur.
On his travels around the world he developed the vision that helping the very poor building a house  that becomes a home will give them a brighter future.
In 10 years more than 2000 families in South Africa, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and Mexico have build a house this way. HomePlan always works together with local partners to make sure the housing program is part of a larger program for education, health service and nutrition to empower the beneficiaries to work on their self reliability and self development.
The whole community is involved which families will be chosen and the selection process is very careful with clear criteria.
Total costs for this project in Mexico for 25 very poor families building together with 200 student volunteers from Mexico City is totally EUR. 40.565,- with a STARTFUND NERTHERLANDS share of EUR.12.000,-

THE BELEN PROJECT (PERU)
Thirty clowns from the Patch Adams Gesundheit!Institute were visiting Peru in 2005 and impressed by the poverty of the Belen community in Iquitos. They made a plan to create a multi functional building for young people and women to get instructions about health, education, raising children, prevention of violence and vocabulary. Also a library will be realised. The 30 clowns are building the place together with community members, only asking an amount to support their tickets and stay. Besides this the total budget of EUR.15.000,- shows design/drawings, supplies and purchase of property costs. STARTFUND is supporting this warm hearted project with EUR. 7.500,-, from with 14.000 people will benefit. The Gesundheit!Institute, in person of John Glick and Patch Adams, does the co-ordination.
