Fields of the proposed projects :
Projects that will be taken into consideration must be related to the fields of:
- healthcare - care for nature and environment - community care -
Selection criteria :
- The project is based on an inspiring and/or new idea
- A clear plan is in place of how to put the idea into action as a project
- The project leader is committed to execute the plan and accepts full responsibility for it
- The project has the potential to make a longer term impact and is replicable in other places
Size of sponsorship : The Startfund limits it’s co-funding to projects based on a total budget that does not exceed the amount of € 100.000,- After the approval of the project, our way of sponsoring is, that the lower the total budget, the higher the percentage of sponsoring will be, according to this formula:
20% of a budget between........... EUR. 80.000 - 100.000
25% of a budget between........... EUR. 60.000 - 80.000
30% of a budget between........... EUR. 40.000 - 60.000
35% of a budget between........... EUR. 20.000 - 40.000
40% of a budget between........... EUR. 15.000 - 20.000
50-100% of a budget between..... EUR. 0 - 15.000 *
* In the discretion of the Selection Committee
Overhead costs : The overhead costs should include the salaries of those responsible for organizing the project and may not exceed 15% of the total project costs.
Sponsoring / Reporting : After the approval of a project by the Selection Committee (see below) the applicant has 9 months to find the remaining funding for the project.
Within that period the applicant should present to the selection committee:
- bank transcriptions, or:
- letters of financial commitment from reputable people or organizations.
After receiving and approving of the required information, the Start/fund will disburse the funds in two installments:
- The first installment will be disbursed within 2 weeks of the approval.
- The second installment will be disbursed 6 months after the first installment
... under the condition that a report will be provided describing the progress of the project, including a statement about how the funds have been used so far (if possible approved by a certified accountant).
Project representation : As the Startfund’s office is located in the Netherlands and your presence may be required at our offices, we request that the projects have a representative living in the Netherlands or Belgium. We expect that this person be the link between the Startfund and those responsible for field operations. They will know the people involved in the project and can keep us reliably informed of progress and will provide updates as described above.
Restrictions : In general the construction or rehabilitation of buildings, the making of films, websites, books, brochures, will not be considered, unless these are (an) essential part(s) of the project.
Selection Committee : The Startfund has a Selection Committee that considers the proposed projects and decides about the amount of the co-funding. Within a month after the decision is made, the committee will inform the applicant and/or their representative about it.
